The 1980s

1980sFollowing the death of Bob Carter, sponsorship of the competition was continued by his widow Mary, later Lady Mary Carter-South. In 1983 the Bob Carter Plate was re-named “Lady Mary Trophy” and a new Bob Carter Plate competition was introduced for 16 member clubs, 45 overs each side. The Carter representative on the organising committee became Billy Hunter.

In 1985 the Lady Mary Trophy reverted back to Bob Carter Plate. In 1989 Vic Newton retired as Secretary after 21 years. Brian Broom (Horsford CC) became Secretary.
