Carter Cup 2nd Round Report + Bob Carter NACO Cup reports – an excellent Sunday with some outstanding performances

CARTER CUP & NACO CUP COMPETITIONS 2015 – Sunday 7 June 2015
Three EAPL sides go through to the Carter Cup Semi Finals
In the last round of Carter Cup matches on Sunday 7 June 2015, Norwich, Vauxhall Mallards and Swardeston from the EAPL went through to the semi- finals and are joined by high flying Brooke from the Alliance Premier.
Brett Stolworthy was in fine form for Mallards hitting a fine 101 as the “Ducks” reached 300 for 8 off their 60 overs, M Todd also hit a fine 60; Downham reached 162 all out to be soundly beaten by 138 runs.
Old Buckenham batted first against Norwich and were all out for 199 which Norwich comfortably reached to win by 5 wickets.
The other EAPL side Swardeston posted a commanding 341 for 9 wickets off 60 overs with contributions from R Sims 75, Lewis Denmark 53 and S Gray 50; opponents Cromer were all out for 184 to give Swardeston a win by 184 runs; M Eccles with 4 for 41 and Tom Oxley 3 for 31 were ably abetted by George Walker 3 for 60 as the wickets fell for Cromer.
In the all Alliance Premier One tie high flyers Brooke beat Diss by 7 wickets; Diss batting first scored 222 for 9 wickets and in the ensuing run chase Mike Jones with 69 not out and Rob Panter 68 eased Brooke to a comfortable victory.
The draw for the next round of the Carter Cup will be made live on the Cricket Show on Radio Norfolk on Friday 12 June between 6.00 pm – 6.30 pm.
In the revamped Bob Carter NACO Cup there were wins for Fakenham, North Runcton, Stow and Horsford.
For Fakenham Chad Bowes hit a superb 139 as his side reached 349 for 7 off their 50 overs; in reply EAPL side Great Witchingham lost wickets fairly regularly to finish up on 267 for 9, eventually losing by 82 runs.
A weakened Asmanaugh & Barton Wanderers were bowled out by Horsford for 146 who then went on to win by 8 wickets.
Rob Purton’s 125 was all in vain as Sprowston lost to North Runcton – Sprowston reaching 178 for 9 before Runcton went on to win by 4 wickets.
In the remaining game Lowestoft were all out for 150; Stow reaching their target to win by 5 wickets with Ed Landymore hitting a match winning 71 not-out.

Lowestoft v Sprowston
All games are scheduled to start no later than 12 noon.
The Losers of Relegation Final will in accordance with Rule 14.1 (Format) be relegated in to the Lady Mary Trophy for 2016 (see rules on website).
