Acle win 2015 Lady Mary Trophy

CARTER PRESS RELEASE

ACLE WIN LADY MARY TROPHY

Although the game started in ideal conditions the local weather forecast proved correct with the game being won on run rates by Acle.

Beccles, David George won the toss and decided to bowl in ideal conditions. Acle started quickly at five runs an over with Josh Rowe being the mainstay of their innings scoring a fine 47.

Beccles kept themselves in the game and dismissed Acle for 183 with overs to spare; Nick Smith took 4 for 37 and Ian Ruddock 2 for 7.

Beccles started their innings in rather murky conditions but were always finding it hard against a steady Acle bowling attack; the rain finally took charge of the game after 31 overs with Beccles six wickets down for 96 runs.

Young Joe Flatt put in a sterling bowling performance but was most unfortunate not to take a wicket but turned in impressive figures of 0 for 27; Sean Roberts was the pick of the Acle bowlers with 2 for 7 off 8 overs including 3 maidens.

Both sides can be congratulated on reaching the final which the local weather conditions were always likely to play a big part, with the game eventually being called off and Acle winning on a game decided by run rates.

So Acle are the 2015 winners of the Lady Mary Trophy and richly deserve the other prize on offer automatic entry into the 2016 Carter Cup.

Roberts won the man of the match award for his bowling performance and collected the magnificent trophy from adjudicator Richard Wright from the Norfolk County Cricket Board.
